This one is brought to you by Sarah, after being released from timeout.
Me: "Sarah, why did I send you to your room?"
Sarah: "Because...I was being...noxious."
For the record, she was not sent to her room for being obnoxious. At least not today.

Black and Yellow/Quote of the Day
Ever heard of the song Black and Yellow?
I hadn't. But it was played at the bowling alley during our Sunday school social back in August. Caleb and Sarah enjoy singing the chorus from time to time.
Well, my two little goofballs were singing Black and Yellow today.
And this led to today's Quote of the Day.
I asked Caleb if he knew what creature was black and yellow.
You'd expect him to say a bumble bee, right?
You'd be wrong.
Caleb said this:
"If the people painted grass black and yellow and then a creature climbed in the grass and camouflaged itself, it would be black and yellow."
Well, that's right I suppose. Correct, indeed.

Quote of the Day
As he emptied the dishwasher this morning...
Caleb:
"If someone has a knife, they want to cut you."
"If someone has a spoon and fork, they want to eat you."

A Beach Ball And A Cookie
Apparently, a beach ball and a cookie go together. Like peanut butter and jelly. Like Sonny and Cher.
While playing Memory with Caleb, he turned over a beach ball and a cookie.
"Hey, those go together!"
"You might be at the beach, playing with a beach ball. And then you get hungry for a cookie. Then you could eat this cookie."

Give the Family Jewels
We heard the most awkward commercial on CBS tonight.
This is the narration from the commercial:
"Wanna do something special for your woman on Valentine's Day? Examine yourself for testicular cancer. It's easily treated if detected early. This Valentine's Day, why give a diamond when you can give the family jewels. CBS cares."
I totally appreciate the informative commercials, but Wow...

Quote of the Day
We were about to head out for church Wednesday night. I was debating whether or not to go because I was starting to feel some stomach cramping (which is how Jadie's stomach virus started).
Caleb: "Mommy. Maybe you could call the church and ask them if you could bring a trash can for you to throw up in. That would be nice."
So practical, isn't he?

Jadie April Fooled Himself
I forgot to make note that I was not "April Fooled" this year. I'm not bragging, no siree. I do not want to become prideful of my near escape this year for fear that I might fall prey to Jadie's schemes next year.
It was Saturday morning when he informed me that he had "April Fooled" himself. After work on April 1st, he taped the trigger of sprayer in the kitchen sink so that if I turned on the water to do dishes or wash my hand, I'd be sprayed with water. Well, I didn't make a trip to the kitchen sink that night. So, Jadie was sprayed in the morning before work when he tried to use the kitchen sink! Ha!

For Your Listening Pleasure
I say this is for your listening pleasure because I realize that the video quality is terrible. I did not have her in a spot with good lighting, but I knew that I may not be able to recreate the situation if I moved her.
We frequently sit Sarah in the Bumbo on the dining table when we are eating meals. We usually surround her with various toys to play with. Yesterday at lunch, Caleb was encouraging her to play with this adorable rolling cheetah. As you can tell, she got a real kick out of him rolling it to her!

The Ripple Effects of Breastfeeding
This is how Caleb plays with his dinosaurs.
Well, he doesn't play with them like this everyday. But this was how he played with them today.

My Kid Is Obsessed With GEICO
Exhibit A:
P.S. That high-pitched squeal is Sarah. She wanted in on the action too.
Exhibit B:
Caleb insisted upon taking this card to PawPaw Freeman's for football time last night. He was totally distraught when he couldn't find it when it came time to leave. After I did find it, he began jumping up and down, saying "My GEICO, My GEICO!"
Exhibit C:
When the GEICO commercials come on TV, he is enthralled and has an ear-to-ear smile plastered on his face.

Three Year Old Logic
Conversation I just had with Caleb:
Mommy: "Ok, Caleb, you have about 30 more minutes to play, and then you're going to bed."
Caleb: "No. No way. Never."
Mommy: "Yes, Caleb. 30 minutes."
Caleb: "No, I want to play 5 more minutes!"
Mommy: "Alright, 5 minutes it is!"

Two Things You May Not Want To Know
Since this is where I document the happenings in my life, you have the priviledge of being subjected to occasional stories that only close friends and family (most of you reading fall into the category anyway!) might otherwise hear.
Today's tidbits are both breast-related, so brace yourself...
1. I have officially experienced Mastitis AKA Breast Infection. "Mastitis is an infection of the breast tissue that causes pain, swelling and redness of the breast. Mastitis occurs when bacteria enter your breast through a break or crack in the skin of your nipple or through the opening to the milk ducts in your nipple. Bacteria from your skin's surface and baby's mouth enter the milk duct and can multiply — leading to pain, redness and swelling of the breast as infection progresses." -Mayo Clinic website
I first experienced tenderness/mild pain during the day Friday. I just wrote it off, until the chills and fever kicked in on Friday night. Jadie was out fishing for the night. I called him home at 3:30 am so he'd be able to wake up Saturday morning and help me with the kiddos in case I wasn't feeling any better. That was a good call. I spent most of the day in bed with fever of 102-103, an unbearable headache and general body aches. Not cool. We called the OB and he called in a prescription for antibiotics. Praise God for medical knowledge, because these drugs have done glorious things for my problems. I'm not over it yet, but feeling 80% better.
If you intend to breast-feed, I encourage you to study up on mastitis prevention, because you will want to do everything that you can to avoid this if at all possible.
2. Although I am modest and use a nursing cover in public, I am very open in my own home when it's just our family. With that said, I was nursing last night when Caleb came over to kiss Sarah's head. So precious and so frequent an event! He studied my breast and pointed to my very obvious veins asking, "Mommy, is your milk GREEN?" That was a fun conversation.

Caleb Will Hate Me Someday
Hilarious story...and evidence that nothing is off limits when it comes to sharing a good story.
I usually take my shower while Caleb plays in our bedroom. I have not had any serious trouble with this arrangement yet.
Yesterday, when I got out of the shower, Caleb was not in our bedroom, but I could see him in his bedroom, standing at the door, with the door mostly closed (as if hiding behind it). I asked him what he was doing and then prodded him to come talk to me. By this time I knew he thought he had done something wrong, which was why he wasn't coming to talk to me.
He reluctantly walked to me, still acting suspicious, holding something behind his back. I held out my hand and he placed Jadie's silver ring in the palm of my hand. I sighed and said, "Caleb, this is not big deal. Just go put it back on the night stand where you got it." He seemed pleased not to be in trouble and cheerfully announced, "This ring is silly on my penis!"
Yes, he said penis. Yes, he was wearing clothes. Apparently, boys just think about these things...gee, I wonder if...

Kids Say The Darnedest Things
To give a little background information, we have 3 friends from church who are from Zambia. They originally came to America as part of the Zambian Vocal Collection, a group that travels the US singing their hearts out for God.
So, we were at a graduation luncheon yesterday afternoon and Caleb was having a good time playing with and talking to Zach, Wilson, and Allan. While we were finishing up eating lunch, Caleb took note of how light the palms of Allan's hands are. So he says to Allan, "Your black is coming off!" Caleb seemed genuinely concerned. What a sweet (but confused) little boy!
Several months ago, there was an awkward silence during LifeGroup when Caleb shouted out (about Allan), "He's black!" Yes, honey, God makes people in several different colors! Thankfully, we all had a good laugh about the innocence of children.

Inappropriate
We've been teaching Caleb the difference between appropriate and inappropriate. Usually it pertains to commercials on television (such as the Altel commercial where they continually call Chad a ding-dong) or Caleb's behavior (such as hitting).
Here's what Jadie and I cannot stop laughing about...and I'm trying to get him to enunciate better. I think we're the ones who are inappropriate in this case.
So there is an inflatable pumpkin and an inflatable turkey in a yard in the next neighborhood over. Caleb LOVES to drive by to see them at night when they're inflated. During the day when we drive by, he notices that they are laying in the yard and he says they're sleeping. Every night, no matter where we are, he makes note that it's dark outside and he says, "Pu-kin Turkey On!!!" He's so excited, but Jadie and I can't help but hear something a little inappropriate as he says it.
For the record, Jadie was the first to notice that it sounded inappropriate. As a mom, I was automatically decoding his speech, not noticing what it might have sounded like!
