Earliest Nap On Record

I can't remember when Caleb has gone down for a nap before 1pm.  I also cannot recall a day with so many meltdowns!!!

For at least the past 6 months or so, Caleb has been resisting his naps altogether, especially before 2:30 or 3pm.  On a rare occasion, I can get him calmed down and in bed around 2pm.  Anyhow, I felt that today's record number of meltdowns and my thinning patience warranted an early go at it.  So, here I sit at 1pm, with a sleeping Caleb in the other room.  Ahhhhh....nice.

What brought all of this on?  It's pretty easy to deduce this answer.  It all started yesterday.  Don't get me wrong, yesterday was wonderful.  But a wonderful day can be followed by a not so wonderful one.  Yesterday was my morning to myself.  Melanie and I are continuing our mini vacation series by switching off watching one another's children every week.  I picked up some lunch and headed over to retrieve Caleb around 11:30am.  After eating, we headed out to my sister's new home (a unit in a triplex near Baylor) to check out the new digs.  Beautiful, I tell you!  The walls are actually painted something other than stark white, and for the first time ever, she has her own bathroom!!!  Caleb wasn't really thinking "nap time" while we were there.  I still needed to drop some clothes off at the kid's resale shop and pick up a new air mattress for our camping adventure that's coming up, so I headed that way.  Wouldn't you know it, Caleb finally passed out in his car seat about 1 block from our destination.  Any "good" mom (you know what I mean, a mom who always puts her child first), would have just driven on home and put that kid in his bed for a sound, productive nap time.  Not me.  I peeled him out of his car seat and lugged him (still sleeping) into the resale shop with me to consign some clothes.  Then I dumped him back in his car seat and drove across the parking lot to Target.  I think all of this added up to about 7 or 8 minutes of restless, in-and-out-of-it sleep for my precious little one.  I guided him into the shopping cart at Target and wheeled over to the air mattresses.  When we'd gotten what we went for, we finally headed home.  No, he did not attempt to fall asleep again.  Yesterday evening, Jadie had two softball games, one at 6:30pm and the other at 9:30pm.  Like a crazy woman who's a glutton for punishment, we attended both games to cheer him on.  Really, last night wasn't bad at all.  Caleb was started to wobble around a little since he was tired, but he had a pretty good attitude and remained happy.  We finally plopped him into bed around 11pm.

And so, today I suffer! lol
