1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
5. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
I totaly agree with you that poverty in the states and outside, is not the governments problem... nor able to be solved by the government. God gave strict instructions to His people to care for the poor... it is us who need to live with less... and less... and less... and give more and more and more! Sorry, I'm a little passionate on the subject of the poor. The Bible say's, whatever you did for them... you did for Jesus himself. I like to look at those on welfare and see Jesus himself! Trust me, if us Christians would take up that banner... the government wouldn't need to bother! As it is, though... we are falling way short, and others are having to take up our slack!
