A Beach Ball And A Cookie

Apparently, a beach ball and a cookie go together.  Like peanut butter and jelly.  Like Sonny and Cher.

While playing Memory with Caleb, he turned over a beach ball and a cookie.

"Hey, those go together!"

"You might be at the beach, playing with a beach ball.  And then you get hungry for a cookie.  Then you could eat this cookie."

Baby #3: 21 weeks

I'm not really a fan of the carrot comparison, because baby is actually much fatter than this.  I guess it's mostly for the length anyway...

I'm feeling:
Nostalgic about Caleb when he was younger.  Weary from feeling larger than normal.  Apprehensive about pushing another child through the birth canal.  Scared about having three children in my care.  Excited about getting in the pool on Monday, even if I am wearing a tent for a bathing suit.

Baby Center says:
Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

A Few Thoughts From This Morning

It's amazing how pleasant it is outside before 11am when there's actually shade in the back yard.  Maybe I should refrain from being lazy and staying inside more often...

This body wash makes me feel like I'm on vacation.  Not sure exactly what scent makes me feel that way, but I LIKE IT!!!

I HATE when I buy strawberries and leave them on the counter just over one night and they're practically ruined by the next morning.  What a waste!

Why can't I get motivated to sew?  Is there something I can do to help myself along?

Caleb has been saying "Syrup" instead of "Sarah" all day.  "Syrup is dirty."  "Syrup needs a nap."

I could seriously eat an entire jar of Nutella by myself.  In one sitting.  But that would be 170% of my daily allowance of fat for one day.  I think I'll stick with the regular 2 tablespoon serving.

Baby #3: 20 weeks

I missed posting this last week...

I'm feeling:
PREGNANT!!!  The tummy is no longer looking suspicious.  It's apparent that there's someone growing in there!  I can feel him/her move more frequently, but still only a few times a day.  The real movements started during the ultrasound last week when the tech was mashing all over my uterus to try and force baby to move around so we could see the goods.  No such luck! Baby was scrunched up from the waist down!

Baby Center says:

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)
He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

A bonus for the adults in the room:
Ok, I'm not so excited about the exposed breasts or the private area, but I did find it interesting to note how much space baby takes up in the abdomen as he/she grows.  I'm a little over 1/3 of the way full.  That explains why I actually feel pregnant now!

Flashback: Team Rivalry

For those of you who weren't reading my fun little blog back in '08, here is what I posted in the heat of football season.

My heart is swelling as I remember how Caleb was at that age...just a few months shy of turning 3.

So, here's the vid:

Eeeeeek!

We find out in less than 12 hours whether we're having a boy or girl!  I am getting totally psyched!

Wanted

This popped up on my pandora station this afternoon.

What a beautiful picture of the love we are capable of sharing with others!

Someone, somewhere needs a you to be this friend...the one who says, "You're wanted."  Love that person today.

Baby #3: 19 weeks

How I'm feeling:  GREAT!  I still need at least a little cat nap in the afternoon to make it until 10pm or so, but who couldn't use a nap?

What Baby Center says:

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.
Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

They say...

...if you phrase a two-choice question with the answer you want to receive listed second, a young child will almost always give the second choice as their answer.

This is why we ask our Bible Study Fellowship children, "Is the Bible pretend or true?"  We want them to shout, "TRUE!"  And they do.

So, as I showed Sarah my belly and tried to coax a kiss for the baby bump from her, I asked:  "Is Mommy's baby a boy or a girl?"

Of course, I assumed she'd answer "girl."

Well, she didn't!

Clear as day, she said "BOY!"

And we'll see if her little 21 month-old prediction is on the money or not next Thursday, May 19.

Stay tuned...

Baby #3: 18 weeks

How I'm feeling:

Please remember that this is where I document my life as you read this portion of my post.  Things are moving along well with baby.  My tummy is steadily growing and weight gain is steady and on course.  Let's just say there's one thing that's not moving along as it should and so I'm taking a little red pill to help things along.  There.  I tried to keep it as secretive as I could.  But let's be real.  A problem like that can be quite annoying.

Maybe the news next week will be more fun and attractive!

What Baby Center says:

Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.
