Rewind--Important Milestone to Document!

Last Monday was Jadie's 30th Birthday!!!

I'm not sure why I didn't mention this at the appropriate time.  It could be because I'm a slacker who wasn't sure what to do for a surprise party or how to get all of his friends involved.  I'm a little better at birthday parties for the under 10 age range.

We celebrated the benchmark birthday by going to dinner with a couple of friends.  Yes, I was too much of a slacker to even be the one to call said friends for this dinner date.  I provided the cake instead.  Teamwork.  That's what a rock solid marriage is about, right?

We went to Texas Roadhouse, Jadie's favorite restaurant (with Rosati's coming in a close second).  The waitress did hear Caleb announcing that it was Jadie's birthday, but somehow she was wise enough not to bust out the saddle and expect my husband to climb on.  **It might have been a good idea, though, because minutes earlier we witnessed a teenage boy "riding" the saddle quite inappropriately.  Jadie would have provided Caleb with a more appropriate example of how to ride in a saddle.**

So here's the birthday boy blowing out his candles.  We did things quite backwards...I served everyone cake, we ate half of what was on our plates, then we lit the candles and sang "Happy Birthday."

Mother's Bracelet

We made mother's bracelets about 2 year ago in my MOPS group at the Nazarene Church.  Of course, I only made a single strand for Caleb at the time.  I have been itching to add a strand for Sarah, and so today, I did!

They are not identical because the bead shop did not have the same size spacers or Swarovski crystals, but I made sure the length ended up the same.  I'm happy with the way it turned out.

I know 3 pictures of the same thing is redundant, but I'm not sure which is the best shot, so here are all 3!  You will probably have to click on the pictures to see them closer.

On Track

I was excited to read the little "week 27" information on my sidebar.  Well, I was actually excited to see that my weight gain is on the lower end of the range of normalcy.  Only 16 pounds so far!

Kids Say The Darnedest Things

To give a little background information, we have 3 friends from church who are from Zambia.  They originally came to America as part of the Zambian Vocal Collection, a group that travels the US singing their hearts out for God.

So, we were at a graduation luncheon yesterday afternoon and Caleb was having a good time playing with and talking to Zach, Wilson, and Allan.  While we were finishing up eating lunch, Caleb took note of how light the palms of Allan's hands are.  So he says to Allan, "Your black is coming off!"  Caleb seemed genuinely concerned.  What a sweet (but confused) little boy!

Several months ago, there was an awkward silence during LifeGroup when Caleb shouted out (about Allan), "He's black!"  Yes, honey, God makes people in several different colors!  Thankfully, we all had a good laugh about the innocence of children.

Slip 'n Slide

Caleb and I spent time with Kristin yesterday, finally!  She has been really busy with her summer internship hours, so our weekday hangout time has vanished.  Anyhow, we enjoyed our favorite pizza from Schlotzky's (the BBQ Chicken Pizza) and then did some shopping.  Our last stop was to Marshall's where Caleb fell in love with a Slip 'n Slide.

The Slip 'n Slide was all he could talk about to anybody yesterday afternoon.  He told Mike about it after Jadie's haircut (Mike has been cutting Jadie's hair since he was little).  He monopolized the waiter's time at On The Border.  He talked us about how excited he was about a half  million times.

Here are the pictures of BOTH of my boys enjoying their Slip 'n Slide time!

Gone, Gone

Don't hate me, please.

I do agree with most people who comment on Caleb's hair; His curls are adorable!  However, I have become tired of unruly curls that make him look like a human poodle.  Therefore, I chopped them off.  You should see the pile of curls in the trash can (I didn't think you'd want to see the rest of what was in the trash can, so I didn't take a picture for you).

Yes, it is true.  I did this myself.  I have not yet brought myself to the point of paying for a haircut for my poor child.

Note that I did not cut his hair way back in the forehead area.  He has been blessed with my tall/huge/long forehead.  That's just the way it is!

The Dreaded Belly Photo-25 weeks

Well, hello there belly!  No doubt about it, I've grown!

Although I'm really not overly excited by a view of my profile, I wanted to post this for two reasons:

1. I enjoy seeing preggo friends as their bellies grow progressively bigger :-)

2. My bigger belly means we're closer to meeting Sarah Kate.  Only 15 weeks to go!  I mean,  goodness, 15 whole weeks to go!
