Quote of the Day: Yesterday

To the cashier at Ross, who happened to be a twenty-something black man:
"Why do you have earrings in your ears?"
The cashier's response:
A smile, a chuckle, and "Because I like them."
Boy, Caleb knows how to open a can of worms!

Bathroom Progress

**Updated: Tuesday, May 4**

Let's just focus on Caleb's bathroom. Ours will continue to be out of sorts for quite a while.

Double Done With:
Ripping down the hideous light box
Taking down the wall mirror
Cutting and framing the mirror
Replacing the vanity top
Replacing the chrome faucet with brushed nickel
Replacing gold cabinet hardware and toilet paper holder with satin nickel
Priming the cabinets
Painting the cabinets
Paying Miracle Method to repair about 5 chips in our porcelain bathtub
Recaulking the tub
Scraping off the wallpaper
Using Gardz to seal the walls that we damaged by pulling off the paper part of the drywall
Pulling out the toilet
Scraping up the cracked, stained, and peeling linoleum
Laying the tile
Grout the tile
Pay to have the walls textured to match the rest of the house
Select a paint color
Install new lighting
Reinstall the toilet
Paint new shoe moulding
Install new shoe moulding
Purchase new shower curtain

Still To Do:
Paint the walls
Hang new wall mirror
Hang hooks for towels
Hang towel ring
Select new towels

Here's a sneak peek at the tile between the laying stage and the grouting stage:
Do you see that garbage bag Jadie has taped over the hole in the floor for the toilet? I'm so thankful for that step in the process! I can hear the roaches moving against the plastic trying to invade our home. Stay out!

Quote of the Day

We were about to head out for church Wednesday night.  I was debating whether or not to go because I was starting to feel some stomach cramping (which is how Jadie's stomach virus started).

Caleb: "Mommy.  Maybe you could call the church and ask them if you could bring a trash can for you to throw up in.  That would be nice."

So practical, isn't he?

The Sickies

Blech!  Between a virus and sinus drainage followed by gagging and vomiting, I've been a one woman clean up crew since last Thursday.  Both kiddos.  Then my mom and sister.
We made a trip to visit Mom and Kristin on Friday, thinking that Caleb's nausea had passed.  He seemed fine by Saturday morning, but Sarah lost her cookies (not literally cookies) during the early morning hours and a few more times through Saturday evening.  By Sunday, they both seemed to be recovered.  We said goodbye to Mom and Kristin and headed back to Waco.  About 10 minutes after returning home, Mom called to say that she had gotten sick.  Then Caleb lost his dinner.  Gross.  Then Sarah lost her dinner...twice.  Then Kristin got sick this morning!  Are you kidding me?
At least my kids are good at sharing :-)

Jadie April Fooled Himself

I forgot to make note that I was not "April Fooled" this year.  I'm not bragging, no siree.  I do not want to become prideful of my near escape this year for fear that I might fall prey to Jadie's schemes next year.

It was Saturday morning when he informed me that he had "April Fooled" himself.  After work on April 1st, he taped the trigger of sprayer in the kitchen sink so that if I turned on the water to do dishes or wash my hand, I'd be sprayed with water.  Well, I didn't make a trip to the kitchen sink that night.  So, Jadie was sprayed in the morning before work when he tried to use the kitchen sink!  Ha!

For Aunt Kristin ( I think you bought her this for Christmas, or was it mom?):

For Granana (Thank you for the Easter card):
