Baby #3: 16 weeks

I've made it to 16 weeks!  Believe it or not, I actually weigh now what I weighed at 8 weeks with Caleb and with Sarah.  Apparently, chasing around two kiddos really does add up to a smaller waistline...or at least a smaller number on the scale.

We had an OB appointment today.  The doc let us listen to that tiny little heartbeat for a few minutes.  It's still indescribably amazing to think about a tiny little person just growing away in the womb!  Caleb listened more carefully this time, and he admits to actually hearing the heartbeat this time.

We have scheduled the ultrasound appointment for May 19th, so that's the big day!  Will it be a boy or girl?  Let's see what you all think...vote in the poll to the right before May 19th!

Here's what Baby Center says about the 16th week of pregnancy:
Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

And the fruit/vegetable comparison:
